Living Rooms at Pottery Barn

Good morning treasured readers! We're having a heat wave here in Rio. It's not so hot right now but we've had 3 days with temperatures reaching nearly 50 degrees Celsius! (that's 122 degrees Fahrenheit). Talk about cooking in your own juices! Phew. One day we'll be able to swap temperatures around the world. Hey, USA, you cold? Here, have 10 degrees from Rio and you let us have minus 10! Sweet!<br /><br />Now and then I love visiting <a href="http://www.potterybarn.com/?cm_type=gnav">Pottery Barn</a> and having a look at the rooms they prepare for their products. Even though I know they are staged I find them really attractive. Don't you? Hope you like this selection. I'm loving all those pillows!<br /><br /><img alt="Metropolitan Cube" id="hero-image" src="http://www.potterybarn.com/pbimgs/ab/images/dp/products/201006/0010/img98l.jpg" style="width: 651px; height: 585px;" tabindex="0" title="Metropolitan Cube" /><br /><br /><br /><img alt="View in Room" id="hero-image" src="http://www.potterybarn.com/pbimgs/ab/images/dp/products/201006/0080/img19l.jpg" style="width: 651px; height: 585px;" tabindex="0" title="Metropolitan Cube" /><br /><br /><br /><img alt="View in Room" id="hero-image" src="http://www.potterybarn.com/pbimgs/ab/images/dp/products/201007/0029/img31l.jpg" style="width: 673px; height: 604px;" tabindex="0" title="Benchwright Coffee Table, Rustic Mahogany stain" /><br /><br /><br /><img alt="Benchwright Coffee Table, Rustic Mahogany stain" id="hero-image" src="http://www.potterybarn.com/pbimgs/ab/images/dp/products/201006/0007/img24l.jpg" style="width: 650px; height: 584px;" tabindex="0" title="Benchwright Coffee Table, Rustic Mahogany stain" /><br /><br /><br /><img alt="PB Basic Love Seat - Brushed Canvas" id="hero-image" src="http://www.potterybarn.com/pbimgs/ab/images/dp/products/201006/0016/img17l.jpg" style="width: 650px; height: 584px;" tabindex="0" title="PB Basic Love Seat - Brushed Canvas" /><br /><br /><br /><img alt="Hyde Turned-Leg Coffee Table" id="hero-image" src="http://www.potterybarn.com/pbimgs/ab/images/dp/products/201007/0009/img41l.jpg" style="width: 650px; height: 584px;" tabindex="0" title="Hyde Turned-Leg Coffee Table" /><br /><br /><br /><img alt="View in Room" id="hero-image" src="http://www.potterybarn.com/pbimgs/ab/images/dp/products/201005/0045/img7l.jpg" style="width: 650px; height: 583px;" tabindex="0" title="PB Basic Sofa" /><br /><br /><br /><img alt="View in Room" id="hero-image" src="http://www.potterybarn.com/pbimgs/ab/images/dp/products/201007/0029/img72l.jpg" style="width: 651px; height: 584px;" tabindex="0" title="PB Basic Sofa" /><br /><br /><br /><img alt="Alternate View" id="hero-image" src="http://www.potterybarn.com/pbimgs/ab/images/dp/products/201005/0077/img89l.jpg" style="width: 651px; height: 584px;" tabindex="0" title="PB Basic Sofa" /><br /><br /><br /><img alt="Alternate View" id="hero-image" src="http://www.potterybarn.com/pbimgs/ab/images/dp/products/201005/0070/img85l.jpg" style="width: 651px; height: 585px;" tabindex="0" title="PB Basic Sofa" /><br /><br /><br /><img alt="Alternate View" id="hero-image" src="http://www.potterybarn.com/pbimgs/ab/images/dp/products/201006/0078/img10l.jpg" style="width: 650px; height: 584px;" tabindex="0" title="PB Basic Sofa" /><br /><br /><br /><img alt="Alternate View" id="hero-image" src="http://www.potterybarn.com/pbimgs/ab/images/dp/products/201006/0093/img9l.jpg" style="width: 651px; height: 585px;" tabindex="0" title="PB Basic Sofa" /><br /><br /><br /><img alt="Alternate View" id="hero-image" src="http://www.potterybarn.com/pbimgs/ab/images/dp/products/201005/0062/img62l.jpg" style="width: 650px; height: 584px;" tabindex="0" title="PB Basic Sofa" /><br /><br /><br /><img alt="Alternate View" id="hero-image" src="http://www.potterybarn.com/pbimgs/ab/images/dp/products/201005/0048/img61l.jpg" style="width: 650px; height: 583px;" tabindex="0" title="PB Basic Sofa" /><br /><br /><br /><img alt="PB Comfort Sofa" id="hero-image" src="http://www.potterybarn.com/pbimgs/ab/images/dp/products/201007/0002/img31l.jpg" style="width: 650px; height: 584px;" tabindex="0" title="PB Comfort Sofa" />

Summer House in Mallorca

Good morning everyone! Today we'll have a look at a restored house in Mallorca. The house itself is quite old but the inside has been totally renovated. The decor is modern, unpretentious and very cheery.<br /><br /><img name="foto" src="http://www.micasarevista.com/casas/campo/campo10/campo10_1g.jpg" /><br /><br /><br /><img name="foto" src="http://www.micasarevista.com/casas/campo/campo10/campo10_2g.jpg" /><br /><br /><br /><img name="foto" src="http://www.micasarevista.com/casas/campo/campo10/campo10_4g.jpg" /><br /><br /><br /><img name="foto" src="http://www.micasarevista.com/casas/campo/campo10/campo10_5g.jpg" /><br /><br /><br /><img name="foto" src="http://www.micasarevista.com/casas/campo/campo10/campo10_6g.jpg" /><br /><br /><br /><img name="foto" src="http://www.micasarevista.com/casas/campo/campo10/campo10_7g.jpg" /><br /><br /><br /><img name="foto" src="http://www.micasarevista.com/casas/campo/campo10/campo10_8g.jpg" /><br /><br /><br /><img name="foto" src="http://www.micasarevista.com/casas/campo/campo10/campo10_3g.jpg" /><br />All images from <a href="http://www.micasarevista.com/index.shtml">here</a>.

Dallas Estate

This 1920 Dallas Estate was renovated by interior designer Peter Marino. It is a magnificent 15,000-square-foot, 21-room house.<br /> Photography by Matthew Millman<br /><br /><br /><img alt="" class="slideImgLeft" id="slideImg" src="http://www.architecturaldigest.com/images/architects/2006/04/marino/arsl02_marino.jpg" /><br />A limestone front door surround was built.<br /><br /><img alt="" class="slideImg" id="slideImg" src="http://www.architecturaldigest.com/images/architects/2006/04/marino/arsl03_marino.jpg" style="width: 550px; height: 760px;" /><br />In the living room, Joan Mitchell’s <em>Swamp</em>, 1956, dominates a wall.<br /><br /><img alt="" class="slideImg" id="slideImg" src="http://www.architecturaldigest.com/images/architects/2006/04/marino/arsl04_marino.jpg" /><br />A 19th-century low table is flanked by Marino-designed gilt-leg sofas and a pair of 19th-century bow-back Russian armchairs. An untitled 1997 piece by Julian Lethbridge is over the fireplace. The lacquered box and urns are from Christie’s.<br /><br /><img alt="" class="slideImg" id="slideImg" src="http://www.architecturaldigest.com/images/architects/2006/04/marino/arsl05_marino.jpg" style="width: 550px; height: 698px;" /><br />Off the west end of the house is the copper-roofed breakfast room, or conservatory, with an adjacent terrace for entertaining.<br /><br /><img alt="" class="slideImg" id="slideImg" src="http://www.architecturaldigest.com/images/architects/2006/04/marino/arsl06_marino.jpg" /><br />An extensive overhaul was necessary for the interiors. “Pretty much everything is new, even the mantels,” Marino says. A suite of circa 1900 Russian chairs and a circa 1830 Russian chandelier are in the dining room. Matisse’s <em>Femme au Costume Décoré</em>, <em>Theme 1</em>, <em>Variation 3</em>, 1942, hangs near the French doors.<br /><br /><img alt="" class="slideImgLeft" id="slideImg" src="http://www.architecturaldigest.com/images/architects/2006/04/marino/arsl07_marino.jpg" style="width: 550px; height: 756px;" /><br />For the subdued master bedroom, Marino chose to custom-make an intricately carved Swedish-style bed and an upholstered headboard. Atop a painted late-18th-century Swedish side table is an 18th-century glazed porcelain vase that was refitted as a table lamp.<br /><br /><img alt="" class="slideImgLeft" id="slideImg" src="http://www.architecturaldigest.com/images/architects/2006/04/marino/arsl10_marino.jpg" style="width: 550px; height: 765px;" /><br />A series of 19th-century botanical studies by M. Guyot are displayed in the guest room. Above the desk is a late-18th-century watercolor, <em>Sous-Bois</em>, by Franz Kaisermann. The toile chair, wallcovering and drapery fabric was designed by Marino’s company.<br /><br /><img alt="" class="slideImgLeft" id="slideImg" src="http://www.architecturaldigest.com/images/architects/2006/04/marino/arsl08_marino.jpg" /><br />Marino imbued the master bedroom with soft, calming hues. <em>Femmes Blouse Fleuri</em>, 1950, by Matisse is in the room; in the hall beyond hangs <em>Personnages dans un Escalier</em>, 1913, by Fernand Léger.<br /><br /><img alt="" class="slideImgLeft" id="slideImg" src="http://www.architecturaldigest.com/images/architects/2006/04/marino/arsl09_marino.jpg" /><br />Chippendale- style chairs, a Diego Giacometti low table and a lamp converted from a Han Dynasty wine vessel fill the loggia.<br /><br />All images and information from <a href="http://www.architecturaldigest.com/architects/100/peter_marino/marino_slideshow_042006">Architectural Digest</a>.
